InStranet Announces New "Reports
In-Line" Content-Based Application
New Product Solves the "Last Mile" Problem
in Enterprise Report Integration and Delivery
NEW YORK, December 2, 2002 - InStranet,
Inc., provider of Content-Based Applications for the enterprise,
today announced the release of its new Reports
In-Line 3.0 software application. Reports In-Line offers enterprises
a new way to integrate operating reports from multiple sources,
and distribute them to targeted users within the enterprise in a
secure and easy to use manner, eliminating administrative roadblocks
and improving management decision-making.
"Over the past few years, enterprises have invested heavily
in business intelligence reporting solutions to make key operating
information understandable by business users," said Alex Dayon,
president and chief executive officer of InStranet. "Today,
these users are overloaded with multiple reporting sources and considering
the time demands currently placed on them, they are faced with real
productivity problems related to finding relevant reports and metrics
easily and securely. Reports In-Line is designed to address these
problems while enhancing the enterprise's current investment in
portals and business intelligence technology."
"At Xenon Consulting, we have been engaged in leading reporting
applications implementations since 1996," said Pia Thompson,
managing principal. "Over time, the complexity of the customer
reporting problem has grown. The key enterprise problem today is
finding the application where a particular report exists and ascertaining
that access is secure, compatible with multiple reporting apps,
and easy-to-use. InStranet's Reports In-Line is an exciting new
way to solve these problems. The application's focus on securely
providing a single point of entry to reporting resources is complemented
by its ability to annotate reports with user comments. We look forward
to working with the InStranet team to deliver this solution to our
customers."
Within the enterprise today, business intelligence reports often
exist within multiple repositories or systems, such as ERP, CRM/PRM,
BI/Data Warehouse, desktop, file system, mainframe, or AS/400. Each
unique system contains its own user interface and search mechanism,
complete with its own training requirements. System complexity also
demands unique system administration across multiple platforms and
numerous security models.
With InStranet's new Reports In-Line application, users can now automatically:
- Merge information from multiple sources into a single distribution
framework;
- Conduct single searches across multiple stores of operational
reporting data;
- Utilize a common and centralized security and user access methodology;
- Use the application's built-in analytics to measure the impact
of report usage on business processes;
- Annotate reports with management comments, or rich text, through
easy-to-use compound document publishing.
Built on top of InStranet's Content Application Foundation, Reports
In-Line offers a unique XML/J2EE architecture that is scalable,
portable, and reusable across multiple content initiatives within
the organization. With InStranet's use of metadata, all reports,
content, documents, and rich text can be tagged and automatically
sent to targeted audiences. The report manager can then easily view
which department or team has viewed which reports, and where the
reports have been sent.
Unlike portals, which only integrate information sources at the
presentation level, InStranet's Reports In-Line application integrates
the information at the content level, using a single metadata framework
for information management, navigation, search, security and report
usage monitoring. In addition, InStranet provides enterprise-class
publishing, workflow and document management capabilities, enabling
business users to add value to the "last mile" of information
delivery by intelligently gathering all information on a single
topic from a wide range of sources and distributing it to the correct
audiences as a single document.
Reports In-Line can be modeled to simulate the business processes
of weekly, monthly, or quarterly reporting. As a result, critical
business information is more secure and accessible, which ultimately
empowers management to make better business decisions.
